ADULT FUNCTIONAL FITNESS
What is it?
The goal of Functional Training is to prepare your body for real life situations such as: carrying, climbing, sitting/standing, kneeling, squatting, balancing, running, stabilizing and more. These movements are done in a multi-plane manner vs. traditional lifting where you are in one plane – lying on bench or sitting down. This training is done to prepare the body for the various physical stresses endured throughout everyday life. It is designed to make muscles work synergistically with each other, specifically the core, since it controls the transfer of strength, balance and stability between upper and lower body.
What is a Typical Functional Fitness Training Class Like?
A typical Functional Fitness class consists of a high intensity atmosphere, where your cardiovascular system and muscular strength will be challenged. We use a variety training modalities such as: TRX Systems, Sleds, Kettle Bells, Medicine Balls, Sprinting, Resisted Sprinting, Plyometrics, Battle Ropes, Calisthenics, and other modern day implements. The class is designed to challenge your body in a functional way. The program design varies between each session to limit the adaptation to the exercises, resulting in greater overall results throughout the training program.
